Nike, Fitbit, Under Armour Can’t Escape Data Tech Patent Suits

Nike Inc., Fitbit Inc., and other companies weren’t able to convince a California district court to end patent lawsuits over Cellspin Soft Inc. image and data transfer technology.

Cellspin’s patents have already been found to cover an abstract idea. But Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California isn’t ready to say they contain no inventive concepts that take the invention beyond the abstract.

The judge’s Wednesday ruling allows the infringement suits to continue.
