Nidec Sues Seagate Over Patents for Disk-Drive Spindle Motors

Nidec, the world’s largest supplier of spindle motors used in computer hard-disk drives, said certain Seagate products infringe five patents for the technology.

  • Nidec, based in Japan, is seeking cash compensation in an amount to be determined at trial and a court order blocking further unauthorized use of the inventions, according to complaint filed Monday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
