Nexstar Media Group Inc.’s purchase of Tribune Media Co. advanced as regulators moved toward approving a deal that would form one of the largest U.S. TV-station owners, with nearly 200 outlets.
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai asked fellow commissioners to vote for the deal, a person briefed on the matter said. Pai placed the transaction on a list of matters awaiting a vote by the five-member commission, according to the agency’s website. The transaction was valued at $4.1 billion when announced last year.
Nexstar says it will have 197 stations after the deal closes.
