Two senior NetEase Inc. executives and seven other employees have been detained by police after China’s second-largest gaming company dismissed them for alleged bribery, according to an internal company memo.
The executives, Xiang Lang and Jin Yuchen, held roles at NetEase’s bread-and-butter business. Xiang last served as head of esports at NetEase and for years handled the firm’s publishing relations with third-party titles. Jin oversaw publishing platforms for NetEase unit Interactive Entertainment Group, the maker of long-running franchises like Westward Journey Online.
A NetEase spokesperson said police are investigating cases of alleged corruption at the company, without disclosing more details. ...
