Data Access Corp. in 1982 created a product called DataFlex, according to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The Miami-based company alleges in the suit that Microsoft’s use of the name Dataflex has caused confusion and reputational damage.
The suit shows how corporate announcements can be complicated by rivals who say they already have products with similar names.
