Meta Plans to Cut 10% of Global Staff in May, Reuters Reports

Meta Platforms Inc. plans to cut 10% of its global workforce — about 8,000 employees — in late May, according to a Reuters report.

The parent company of Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp is planning additional cuts in the second half of the year, Reuters said Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. A spokesperson for Meta declined to comment.

Meta has already laid off thousands of employees in the US and internationally this year as part of a restructuring effort that has affected its hardware division, Reality Labs, as well as sales and recruiting teams. It cut more than 1,000 ...
