Meta Fails to Shake Performers’ OnlyFans ‘Bribery’ Lawsuit (2)

Meta Platforms Inc. will have to face a lawsuit alleging that its employees were bribed by the adult entertainment website OnlyFans to suppress competitor sites on Facebook and Instagram.

US District Judge William Alsup on Wednesday denied Meta’s motion to dismiss the proposed class action filed in February by three adult entertainment performers that use social media to promote themselves. Alsup, writing for the US District Court for the Northern District of California, ruled that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act—which broadly shields internet platforms from liability for content created by their users—doesn’t block the lawsuit.
