McDonald’s Biometric Privacy Lawsuit Removed to Federal Court

McDonald’s Corp. has removed a proposed biometric privacy class action it’s facing to an Illinois federal court, arguing it is a more appropriate venue given the amount in controversy and locations of both parties.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois has jurisdiction over the lawsuit under the Class Action Fairness Act, McDonald’s argued in a notice of removal filed there May 28.

Plaintiff Shannon Carpenter sued McDonald’s in Illinois state court in April, accusing it of violating the Biometric Information Privacy Act.
