LinkedIn, Advertisers Ink $6.6 Million Deal Over Metrics Claims

LinkedIn Corp. agreed to pay nearly $6.63 million to resolve advertisers’ claims that the professional social network had inflated user engagement metrics to overcharge for ads.

The settlement agreement also requires LinkedIn to “use commercially reasonable efforts to engage a reputable third party to audit its ad metrics,” according to the advertisers’ motion for preliminary approval of the agreement filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

Along with the settlement, LinkedIn made changes to its agreements with the advertisers, according to the motion.
