LG Hit With Maxell Patent Suit for Video, Photo Technology

Maxell Ltd. sued LG Electronics Inc. for infringing nine patents after engaging in negotiations but failing to acquire licenses for protected technology inside laptops and cell phones, according to a complaint in Texas federal court.

Several of LG’s products use Maxell’s protected technology for power transmission, recording videos, and photo techniques, according to a complaint filed Dec. 29 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Maxell said LG has known about its patents since at least July 2021 after it approached LG about its infringement concerns.
