Lenovo, Motorola Lose Challenges to Internet Patent at Tribunal

Lenovo (United States) Inc. and Motorola Mobility LLC failed to convince a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office tribunal that a patent related to the delivery of internet content is invalid.

The PTAB’s decision Tuesday upholding the validity of U.S. Patent No. 8,020,083 was another setback for Lenovo and Motorola in a patent fight with DoDots Licensing Solutions LLC. The PTAB previously upheld two other patents the companies are accused of infringing.

“We determine that petitioner has not proven by a preponderance of the evidence that the challenged claims are unpatentable,” the board wrote Tuesday.
