There’s no time left to confirm President Joe Biden’s nominee to serve on the Federal Communications Commission before the year ends, a key senator told reporters Tuesday, though she added she hopes the nomination advances next year.
The FCC hasn’t had a Democratic majority since the beginning of 2017 as the Senate stalls on confirming communications lawyer and advocate Gigi Sohn, who was first nominated more than a year ago. The vacancy has hampered the agency’s ability to act on net neutrality rules, among other party priorities.
