Israel’s Online Store Says Global Sellers Are Favored

The Israeli government takes a hands-off approach to regulating Israeli e-commerce, and that is fine with most local e-commerce merchants.

Israel’s largest shopping site, however, says that the lack of government support, combined with ongoing cuts in import taxes, give an unfair advantage to international sellers.

“The government’s approach is consistent, they don’t want to interfere with market forces,” Israeli E-Commerce Executive Forum CEO Eyal Rosen told Bloomberg BNA in the run-up to the third annual GO eCommerce Summit in Tel Aviv. “There is no sign of any regulatory change, and no proposed legislation.”
