InterDigital Inc. sued Lenovo Group Ltd. for patent infringement related to 4G communications used in its laptops, tablets and Motorola-branded smartphones after years of failed licensing negotiations over the industry standard-setting technology.
InterDigital, which develops mobile technology, accused Beijing-based Lenovo of infringing eight patents in a complaint filed Aug. 28 in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware. The company is seeking unspecified cash compensation and a court order blocking further unauthorized use of its inventions.
