Intel Says Qualcomm’s Licensing Tactics ‘Destroy’ Competition

Intel Corp. says Qualcomm Corp. forced it out of the modem chip market by engaging in anticompetitive licensing tactics, in a filing with the Ninth Circuit.

Qualcomm “destroys” competition by erecting barriers to entry that prevent new companies from gaining a foothold in the market, Intel said in a Nov. 29 brief.

Intel wants the appeals court to uphold a lower court’s May antitrust decision that found Qualcomm’s patent licensing practices were unfair and in turn, hurt competition.
