A group of Illinois towns was denied certification for a class of 154 municipalities in its efforts to obtain unpaid hotel taxes from online travel companies (Vill. of Bedford Park, et al. v. Expedia, Inc., 2015 BL 313318, N.D. Ill., 1:13-cv-05633, 9/28/15).
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois ruled Sept. 28 that the issues common to the municipalities weren’t predominate over questions affecting only individual members.
