Hy-Vee Gets Some Class Claims Over Midwest Data Breach Trimmed

Hy-Vee Inc. customers who say they had to deal with the fallout from a credit card data breach at the Midwestern grocery, gas, and restaurant chain may proceed with much of their suit but negligence claims in three states can’t go forward, a federal court in Illinois ruled.

Residents of six states sued Hy-Vee over a data breach it detected in July 2019, according to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. They sought to represent statewide classes of consumers in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa whose payment card data was compromised.
