Huawei Snubbed in Norway as Telia Picks Ericsson for 5G Project

Swedish telecoms company Telia Co. has picked Ericsson AB to build out its fifth-generation network in Norway, snubbing Huawei Technologies Co.

Starting in 2020, Ericsson will upgrade Telia’s 5G network in Norway over a four-year period, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

“This is not something that happens overnight,” Telia spokesman Ralf Bagner said in an emailed response to questions. “Telia Norway will gradually, over the coming four years, modernize existing base stations and give Norwegians 5G within our partnership with Ericsson.”
