House Lawmakers Request Digital ID Plan From Treasury

Two leading voices in Congress on artificial intelligence are giving the U.S. Treasury Department a deadline of next summer to come up with an action plan for digital ID solutions in the financial services sector aimed at reducing identity theft, fraud, and problems in signing up for new accounts or services.

Identify and Report: Reps. Bill Foster (D-Ill.) and Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.). are asking Treasury to establish a digital identity task force by March 1 and issue a report by June 1. The panel would focus on where current identity solutions fall short and which policies could address that. ...
