Five senators are pushing Google and Apple to prohibit apps on their platforms from using data-mining practices that could put women seeking abortions at risk.

In two letters released Friday, the lawmakers addressed the chief executive officers of Apple and Alphabet’s Google, the latest effort by Democrats to crack down on abortion-related data collection and distribution. Sen. Ed Markey (Mass.) led the appeal, along with fellow Democrats Cory Booker (N.J.), Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Ron Wyden (Ore.) and independent Bernie Sanders (Vt.).
