Headwater, Samsung Resolve Five Texas Patent Infringement Suits

Headwater Research LLC and Samsung Electronics Co. told a Texas federal judge they’re resolving at least five patent infringement lawsuits as part of a sprawling dispute over smartphone technology.

The companies, along with Samsung’s American unit, asked the court to dismiss Headwater’s allegations with prejudice and the electronic giant’s defenses and counterclaims without prejudice, according to five joint motions filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Headwater and Samsung said in the others each party will bear its own attorneys’ fees and costs.
