Google Hit With Patent Lawsuit Over Networking, Security Tech

Athena Security LLP sued Google LLC as the latest move in the patent owner’s assertion campaign concerning networking and security systems.

Google’s Cloud VPN, Jupiter datacenter switches, and security operations systems use similar methods as US Patent Nos. 8,250,357, 7,969,880, 7,702,742, and 9,503,421, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Athena said Google encourages customers to infringe the patents by using the accused products.

The patent owner has asserted a mixture of the protected methods against other companies in Texas federal court, including Cisco Systems Inc. ...
