Going Once: Chinese Variant of .info Under Gavel in First New TLD Auction

Afilias Ltd. and Beijing Tele-info Network Technology Co. Ltd. (BTN) are set to square off June 4 over a Chinese language variant of the .info top-level domain name (TLD) in the first ever auction to be held under the rules of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’s new TLD program.

While just one TLD string will be auctioned in June, a bunch of strings still in contention are coming up for auction quickly following. ICANN has a second auction scheduled July 9, where 11 contested TLDs will come under the gavel.
