Germany Voices Concerns On Amazon’s Price-Control Mechanisms

German Federal Cartel Office has concerns about Amazon’s use of so-called price control mechanisms, according to statement from the antitrust regulator.

  • Currently, retailers who offer their products on the Amazon trading platform should not exceed certain price limits set by Amazon
  • In the the regulator’s preliminary opinion, this could constitute an abuse under the special provisions for large digital companies as well as a violation of the general abuse provisions
  • Amazon now has the opportunity to comment on the allegations
