Germany Prioritizes 5G Network Security as It Mulls Huawei Risks

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government said it is making security a high priority in Germany’s future telecom infrastructure, as it weighs whether to restrict the role of Chinese equipment supplier Huawei Technologies Co.

The security of fifth-generation wireless services is of “significant relevance,” the government said in the letter to a German lawmaker obtained by Bloomberg News on Jan. 7. “That’s especially true when building up such a network.”
