Fortnite Loot Box Lawsuit Against Epic Games Gets Tossed

A lawsuit alleging that Epic Games misled consumers about the loot boxes in its popular online shooter game Fortnite must be dismissed, as the transactions underlying the plaintiff’s claims have been voided, the Eastern District of North Carolina ruled.

Fortnite players can earn “Loot Llamas” that provide randomized game items, or they can purchase the boxes using an in-game currency known as “V-Bucks.” V-Bucks themselves can be earned, or bought using real money.
