Florida Teen Social Media Ban Gets Revised After DeSantis’s Veto

Florida lawmakers have retooled their efforts to regulate teens on social media with a new bill that would ban youth under 14 from platforms with addictive design features and require parental consent for those 14 to 16.

The state Senate passed the measure Monday after Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) vetoed last week legislation that would have prohibited youth under 16 from using such sites. DeSantis said he supported a revised approach that protects minors online as well as the rights of a parent in deciding how their child uses social media.
