Nearly 175 Texas municipalities won’t get a second shot at convincing a federal appellate court that online travel companies should remit millions of dollars in unpaid hotel occupancy taxes.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit denied Feb. 6 a rehearing request filed by the city of San Antonio seeking reconsideration of the court’s November 2017 order that favored travel websites operated by Hotels.com LP, Hotwire Inc., Expedia Inc., Orbitz LLC, and Travelocity.com L.P. San Antonio served as the representative for a class of 173 Texas cities.
