FCC Won’t Help New York State’s Net Neutrality Probe

The Federal Communications Commission has told New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman that it won’t assist his probe of public comments about the agency’s plan to scrap most of its net neutrality rules.

Schneiderman (D) had asked the agency for information about electronically filed comments as part of an investigation into whether about 1 million of the comments were filed by people who falsely assumed others’ identities. The FCC is planning to vote Dec. 14 on GOP Chairman Ajit Pai’s proposal to scale back the rules, a move opposed by prominent Democrats and public policy groups.
