FCC Weighs Changes to Help TV Stations Deploy Next-Gen TV

The Federal Communications Commission is considering transmission rules changes that TV stations say would ease the rollout of the next-generation of services.

The FCC voted unanimously to seek comments on technical changes to rules governing distributed transmission systems that TV broadcasters use to serve hard-to-reach viewers and improve reception.

The FCC is asking for comments as to whether it should increase the amount that distribution transmission system signals can spill beyond a TV station’s service area. It also wants to know what effect the spillage would have on other airwaves users.
