FCC Seeks Input on LightSquared Bid To Share Spectrum for Broadband Network

The Federal Communications Commission is seeking public comment on a petition for a rulemaking by LightSquared Inc. to allow a 5-megahertz block of spectrum to be used by the company for providing mobile broadband services.

In a filing with the FCC in September, LightSquared requested permission to share the 5 MHz of spectrum which is now allocated for meteorological satellite service (1675-1680 MHz) and is adjacent to a 5-MHz block that the company is already licensed to use (1670-1675 MHz).
