The Federal Communications Commission is scheduled to publish a notice in the July 9 Federal Register to solicit public comment on the impact of new agency rules requiring TV stations to disclose information online about political ad purchases.
The first round of comments is due Aug. 26; the second round of replies is due Sept. 23.
Under the rules, which went into effect on Aug. 2, 2012, the top four network-affiliated stations (ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC) in the top 50 U.S. markets must now post their “political file” to an FCC-hosted web site.
