FCC Nominee Sohn Draws Republican Criticism at Senate Hearing

Communications lawyer Gigi Sohn drew criticism from Republicans as senators at a hearing considered her nomination to join the Federal Communications Commission and help form a Democratic majority there.

“I am concerned about her record of expressing hyper-partisan views,” said Senator Roger Wicker, of Mississippi, the top Republican on the Senate Commerce Committee.

The committee on a voice vote approved FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel’s nomination for another term, sending her to the full Senate, before moving on to question Sohn, 60, a longtime public-interest policy advocate.
