FCC Set to Tackle Social Media Liability Limits, Pai Says (2)

The Federal Communications Commission will consider clarifying the scope of a legal shield that protects Twitter Inc. and other social media companies from being sued for moderating third-party content, Chairman Ajit Pai announced.

The Trump administration petitioned the agency to consider adopting rules regarding Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which gives tech companies legal immunity to moderate third-party content on their platforms. Conservatives have complained about what they see as an anti-conservative bias by social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook Inc.
