FCC Grants U.S. Cellular Request to Boost Network Capacity

The Federal Communications Commission is letting U.S. Cellular Corp. use more airwaves to boost network capacity, two days after the agency granted a similar request from T-Mobile US Inc. to respond to the new coronavirus outbreak.

The agency’s approval of U.S. Cellular’s request allows the wireless carrier to access the spectrum frequencies, in the AWS-3 Band, in order to meet increased customer demand in California, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin for the next 60 days, the agency said.
