Households enrolled in a Federal Communications Commission broadband benefit program will continue to receive the same discount 60 days after the program ends.
The agency’s Wireline Competition Bureau said in a Nov. 26 guidance the deadline extension will ensure low-income families continue to receive their $50 monthly internet bill discounts under the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program after it ends Dec. 31. The $3.2 billion fund will be replaced by the revamped Emergency Connectivity Program that day.
