FairPoint Communications will offer gigabit service to a limited number of New Hampshire homes and businesses about a year earlier than it will start offering Internet access to customers in more rural areas of the state at a slower speed.
The Charlotte, North Carolina–based telco announced Nov. 18 that it plans to turn up one gigabit-per-second (Gbps) service to a limited number of homes in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and surrounding communities of Greenland, New Castle, Newington, Rye and Stratham by the end of this year.
