Facebook Prevails in Case Alleging Content Moderator Trauma

A federal judge threw out claims by former content moderators for Facebook Inc. who allege that the company and an employment vendor concealed potential psychological trauma they faced when reviewing content such as murders and child pornography.

Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida dismissed the class action claims, which were filed by nearly two dozen former content moderators in Arizona and Florida.

The plaintiffs were employees of Cognizant, a professional services vendor who contracts with Facebook to provide moderators to review and remove content that violates the social media giant’s rules. ...
