Facebook Inc. and Lamebook LLC have settled a trademark dispute involving a parody website that features selected daily “lame” Facebook content for users to view and discuss, according to a stipulated dismissal filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas Aug. 25 (Lamebook LLC v. Facebook Inc.).
In this lawsuit, Lamebook sought a declaratory judgment that the site did not infringe the Facebook mark. “Unlike the Facebook website, the Lamebook website does not offer social networking services or functionality to its users and, therefore, does not compete with Facebook[,]” Lamebook argued.
