Facebook Beats D.C. Suit Over Cambridge Analytica’s Data Mining

Facebook Inc. defeated a long-running lawsuit filed by the District of Columbia alleging that the social media company disclosed users’ personal information without their consent in violation of the D.C. Consumer Protection Procedures Act.

Facebook, which is owned by Meta Platforms Inc., made clear and repeated disclosures to consumers about its policies such that they couldn’t have been misled about them as a matter of law, Judge Maurice A. Ross of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia said Thursday.

Ross granted Facebook’s motion for summary judgment and dismissed the case.
