EU’s Privacy Shield Worries • States Prioritize Election Cybersecurity

U.S. privacy officials may get an earful from their counterparts in Europe.

A review of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, a program that allows data to be transferred across the Atlantic, is scheduled to start Oct. 18. European Union officials are worried that the U.S. government isn’t doing enough to ensure that companies are keeping up with the program’s demands.

The EU has been concerned about the Commerce Department’s lack of oversight of U.S. companies and the lack of a permanent program referee at the State Department, Daniel R. Stoller reports.
