The European Union is taking Greece and Spain to court over their failure to adopt rules governing how law enforcement handles personal data.
The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, July 25 said it would file cases against the two countries at the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg, alleging infringement of EU law.
Members of the bloc had until May 6, 2018 to enact a set of data protection rules for police services that collect and process personal data when conducting criminal investigations.
