EU Lawmakers Call for Suspension of EU-U.S. Data Transfer Pact

A pact aimed at facilitating data transfers from the EU to the U.S. should be suspended unless the American government fully complies by Sept. 1, a panel of European Parliament lawmakers said in a draft advisory resolution.

Members of the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee approved the June 11 draft resolution on a 29 to 25 vote with 3 abstentions. To be final, the resolution must be ratified by the full European Parliament.
