El Salavdor-Based Reporters Revive Spying Suit Against NSO Group

A lawsuit filed by 18 El Salvador-based journalists alleging their cell phones were attacked by a spyware program deployed by technology companies NSO Group Technologies Ltd. and Q Cyber Technologies Ltd. was revived Tuesday by a divided Ninth Circuit.

The NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware technology, which covertly extracts information from mobile phones, has been the center of extensive litigation and regulatory activity in the US and the EU over allegations that it has been misused to monitor political dissidents, journalists, and human rights activists.
