Ebay, Amazon Didn’t Collectively Abuse Indian Dominance

Amazon Seller Service Pvt. Ltd. and Ebay India Pvt. Ltd. no longer face unfair trade practice allegations after India’s competition regulator rejected a complaint against them and 23 other e-retailers.

The complainant, Deepak Verma, said the companies: delivered pirated, defective or poor quality items; failed to deliver products despite payment having been made; provided false bills with fake VAT invoices; delivered items different from those ordered; and overcharged consumers.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) said the allegations seemed to concern abuse of collective or group dominance, which isn’t covered under the Competition Act.
