DirecTV Follows MSOs into Home Security Market

DirecTV will challenge its cable competitors and industry incumbents in the Home Security market following its acquisition of Langhorne, PA-based LifeShield. DirecTV says it will begin marketing the company’s services to its DBS subscribers beginning early next year.

LifeShield markets a variety of service packages that run from $29.99 to $41.98 per month and include web-based access and a variety of service options. The company’s top-end service includes a full complement of options including alarm monitoring; in-home cameras; medical and environmental alerts; and smoke, fire and carbon monoxide protection.
