Data Protection Authorities Endorse Fairness, Transparency in AI

Data protection officials around the world have endorsed guidelines on how to ensure fairness, transparency, and privacy in artificial intelligence.

AI developers should reveal their algorithms to users, respect personal data, research ways to better detect and reduce biases, and ensure that their technologies don’t hinder human development, under a declaration released Oct. 23 by the International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners in Brussels.
