Cox Communications’ Green Lane Innovations investment arm is backing a new online gaming service, moving the operator beyond its traditional cable service area.
Cox-backed Flare Entertainment LLC’s gaming service can operate on any broadband connection operating at 6 Mbps or higher. The Flare Play service requires users to buy a dedicated gaming system that includes a proprietary “Microconsole” and controller. Users can download games to the microconsole for play or stream games.
