Righthaven LLC must establish that its copyright infringement lawsuit against an Oregon-based nonprofit organization should not be dismissed under the Copyright Act’s fair use exception, the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada ruled Nov. 15 (Righthaven LLC v. Jama).
Judge James C. Mahan scheduled the show cause hearing for Dec. 16. Righthaven, in recent months, has filed numerous copyright infringement lawsuits against website operators who have re-posted copyrighted news articles originally published in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
