Contractors Beset by Ransomware Threats Have Too Few Options

Ransomware attackers targeting federal contractors benefit from the government’s fragmented procedure for reporting breaches.

Government-wide standardization of reporting procedures are necessary, otherwise a new law designed to track ransomware in government contracting has the “potential to completely bury these agencies with unstructured data that cannot be parsed or analyzed at scale,” Bill Siegel, CEO and co-founder of Coveware, told the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Tuesday.
